Faith Temple Deliverance Center IN
TOUCH... Faith
Temple Deliverance Center Publication J & S Production #94 AUGUST 2009 What
A Celebration... Faith Temple Deliverance Center celebrated it’s twenty-second anniversary on Sunday, July 12th.
It was a homecoming celebration as many former members came home for this one day event. The main
anniversary program was at five p.m., but former members came for the morning and evening worship service. Ministers that
preached their first sermon at F.T.D.C. and went on to become founders of churches which they pastor came home and brought
their congregations. Those attending were Elder Charles Caffey and New Beginning Outreach Ministry, Alabaster, Alabama; Elder
Rance Gaddis and church, Brierfield, Alabama; Elder Gerry Bivins and Bethesda Apostolic Church, Montevallo, Alabama and Elder
Jimmy Talley and Day Of Pentecost Church, Almont, Alabama. Due to illness, Elder Donald Bivins, Jr. and his church were not
able to attend, but he called to wish the program a success. Former members of The Voices Of Faith
filled the choir stand and blessed this meeting! Many had not sang together for many years, but without a rehearsal,
they stood together as one and sanged beautifully. Evangelist Sonja Talley, a former faithful
member and minister who answered the call to preach here at F.T.D.C., was the guest speaker. The Lord sent powerful words
of encouragement to those assembled. It was a time of joy. There was rejoicing! Tears of joy
ran down the face of First Lady Sarah Harris who had worked in the altar room as most of those in attendance were spiritually
born into the family of God. Hugs, handshakes and big smiles were shared as everyone was
happy to be together as one church family once more. While the service was in progress,
Elder Charles Caffey got Senior Bishop Harris’ attention and volunteered to help with the next Homecoming Celebration.
This seemed to be the spirit of everyone. Senior Bishop announced that the next Homecoming Celebration
would be as the church celebrated its Silver Anniversary July 5, 2012. At this celebration plans are to have a F.T.D.C. Family
Banquet at the University of Montevallo the Saturday before the homecoming service which will be conducted at the church on
Sunday. All present and past members, families and friends will be invited to this two day event. We
feel sure that Heaven is our reward and it is worth living for God and looking forward too because if our reunions upon this
earth can bring the joy that our church homecoming did, one can only imagine what our reunion with our brothers and sisters
will be when we are caught up to meet the Lord in the air.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ IN TOUCH... goes high tech. to the right are pictures of Senior Bishop Harris as he and First Lady Sarah Harris volunteer community ime at KIDS FIRST AWARENESS CENTER in
the city of Alabaster. KIDS FIRST AWARENESS CENTER where Ms. Cindy Hawkins is Founder and Director serves the youth of the area in many helpful ways.
Offering after school and other vital needs programs to help the youth of the
area, this community service is free to all. Senior Bishop Johnny and First Lady Sarah
Harris were given a tour of the facility by the director and upon learning what this service does for the youth in the area,
their immediate reaction was, how could our church become involved. What could our church do to assist and/or contribute to
such a wonderful ministry for the children of our community. The answer wasn’t difficult at all. After learning that
the director needed assistance with yard up-keep, both Bishop and Sister Harris knew just what our church could contribute.
Senior Bishop has always been an out-of-doors person that enjoy maintaining his yard and the lawns of both our church and
Multipurpose Building, therefore, this was within his calling. However, he had no idea that Sister Harris would join him as
she policed the fenced in yard area where the youth exercise with different type of sporting events by gathering up anything
that was out of place. However, her future volunteer service will be in-doors assisting the youth or wherever the Director
needs her assistance. The assistance of our church will not be limited only to physical
labors, but our church has adopted this ministry as a place where we will, and have already begun to place monetary donations
to help with supplies that are needed in this type of service. Faith Temple has always
made efforts to minister to the whole man, both the spiritual and the natural, therefore, we are happy to give assistance
to the community through this very good program. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Fund Raisers... Many Saturdays during the warm months you might
find Mothers Thomas and Arrington at the church Multiple Purpose Building with a yard ale. Always with the
benefit of the church at heart, they endure the hottest of days selling items for their particular fund
raisers. As seen in he photos, the young and the mature pitch in to help out, and most of the time
their efforts are successful. Meeting people with a warm hello and a smile, most will probably get
an invitation to visit our church whether they buy anything or not. any of those that stop to look and buy are people
that have supported these Mothers before with purchases from them. Recently one of their rospective
buyers commented on how clean and fresh the items were that were displayed for sale. Comments like those are blessings
that these mothers appreciate because more than raising funds, they are representatives
of God and they are trying to show others the way to Heaven. The writings of Solomon can be found
alive and well in the life of Mothers Thomas and Arrington, Eccl 9:10@ instructs us that Whatsoever thy hand findeth
to do, do it with all thy might; and this is exactly what these servant of God do...... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Editorial... Job 8:7 7 Though thy beginning was small, yet
thy latter end should greatly increase. It is believed that most people wish to achieve greatness
in life, but reality tell us that most great people had very humble beginnings. As Job was spoken
with by his friends, they shared words with him that I will use in this article to prayerfully help someone that may be experiencing
testing. Our search of the Bible show us many characters that fit the title “great”,
but our examination of them reveal their very humble beginning. Gleaning from comments
by David's’ brothers, David seem to have been looked down upon by them. (1 Sam 17:28) But from his position in life,
God caused him to rise to the stature of greatness. Not only did he become a hero, but he became one of Israel’s greatest
kings. However, David’s rise to this position took time, it didn’t come over night. It was several years after
David was anointed by the prophet before he became king. We can see the faithfulness that David exhibited
in each phase of his life. As shepherd he was faithful, and as a warrior, he was fearless. Even though David could have expedited
the vacancy of Israel's throne by slaying the sitting king (1 Sam 24:2-5), he didn’t. He waited on God to bring his
destiny to pass. David’s small beginning would change. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ F.T.D.C. Bi-Annual Family Campout... Campout 2009 has ended and it has to be seen as the best campout
that we have had. This year horse back riding was a new event, and the children and young
people just had a great time. For all of them, this was their first horseback ride, and they loved it. Many could not wait for their turn to ride again, and some we had to almost wrestle off
for others to ride. Two horses were part of this event, and they were busy
for the entire time that they were with us as the children waited in line to take another turn at this western life style.
Our youngest rider, little Tyson Piper, age five, showed no fear of riding the horses. Another first for our campout meeting was a visit from our local Fire and Rescue
Department. First Responders of the Fire and Rescue Department brought a fire truck to show the campers and give
safety information to all. Valuable safety tips were given while the safety gear worn by fire fighters were displayed for
all to see. Each of the youth were given opportunity to have hands on experience with fire fighting equipment as they
were shown how to safely spray the water from the fire hose. The adults sat and listened
to the fire prevention and safety tips along with the youth of the church, however, they looked for the dry area as the youth
got sprayed from the low pressure hose on the fire truck. In addition to the activities just mentioned, there were lots
of activities to keep the young people busy all through the night. Basketball on the lighted arking lot, Ping pong; horseshoes,
ball pitch, volleyball and Space Bounce. Praise and worship time was followed by an evangelistic film on a 24’ BIG SCREEN
with a big cook that followed. Pictured to the right is Essence Anijah Strong, the youngest camper.
At the tender age of seven months, she had her taste for the hot dogs that were grilled. Essence is the great granddaughter
of F.T.D.C. member Missionary Lois Arrington. The next Bi-Annual Campout is scheduled for 2011, and already ideas are
stirring as to how to make it a better event. There were more adults that stayed over night at this campout than ever before.
This event is open to the public, and several other area churches were represented this time, but maybe more will campout
with us in 2011. This is a great event that is held on nice property and in a very safe place. Mothers, fathers and grand
parents can participate with their family and enjoy the great out of doors. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MEET MR LIONHEART Mr Lionheart, our full bodied
