Faith Temple Deliverance Center was founded in 1987 by Elder Johnny H. Harris, Jr. and his wife Sarah and their
two children.
Feeling the call of God to share the gospel in an area where Pentecostal churches were needed, this couple
left the comfort and security of a well established ministry and launched out into the deep by their faith to follow the leading
of God to start this new ministry.
With the blessings of their pastor and home church, this new ministry began
on Sunday, July 5th 1987. The first service was conducted in the den of Elder and Sister Harris because the building that
they had contracted was not quite complete as the Landowner was doing special renovations because the building would be housing
a new church. A total of 19 people were present in the first Sunday School service and 21 were present in the first morning
worship.
At 9:45a.m. July 12th, 1987, Faith Temple conducted its first Sunday School session at the new location
and the grandopening of the church was at 5p.m. with services conducted by the pastor of Elder and Sister Harris.
After 46 months in the store front location, God blessed this fast growing church to build a permanent home and move on
April 4th 1991.
The Lord has worked through this church and many have been baptized in Jesus name and filled with
the Holy Ghost since its opening in 1987. Ten members born into the kingdom through this church has been called into
the ministry of which six became pastors.
Today the church has two campuses and multiples of ministries to service
the community and sourrounding area.
Bishop and Sister Harris were both baptized in the name of Jesus during
the month of February 1972 at Progressive Holiness Church, Hemstead New York by the late Bishop Henry Brown. They both received
the Holy Ghost in their hometown of Alabaster, Alabama several days after their water baptism in New York.
They have
held firmly to the Apostolic Doctrine and encouraged many to continue in the faith as we see the soon return of our Lord for
his church.
